Couples Therapy

716871976Is your partner driving you crazy??

So much so that you’re not listening to each other anymore?

And if you’re not listening to each other, you’re probably fighting – throwing mean names around instead of communicating. Fights happen. They can be healthy… or they can be the death of your relationship.

If fights result in shutting each other out instead of working on the problem, you’re in trouble. If you’re not communicating, it’s impossible to feel heard and understood by your partner.

That’s when trust and connection, the essential cornerstones of healthy relationships, go right out the window.

Relationships are hard!

We all have quirks. And let’s face it: Working through them and compromising when challenges arise isn’t always easy.

Navigating finances, being a parent, communicating effectively, sharing responsibilities, or dealing with in-laws…

It’s a lot to manage!!

At times couples can use additional support to work through challenges.

… so that you turn toward (not AWAY) from each other during tough times. And it’s usually easier to do that with help from a third party.

In therapy, you’ll restore your relationship, nurturing your fondness and admiration for each other.

Better communication…

Communication is key, but it’s one of those things that must be practiced and continuously strengthened. Like a muscle, it gets weaker if it’s not exercised.

You’ll learn to talk about your feelings, be vulnerable, and identify triggers in a healthy way for better problem-solving in your relationship.

Deeper connection…

This means something different to everyone, but this is a space for you to explore various forms of intimacy.

Everyone receives and communicates love in different ways, and knowing what you need and how to communicate those needs can make a big difference in your relationship.

Compromise…

We’ve all heard how important it is in relationships, so I would be remiss if I didn’t mention it. It’s not always easy, but it’s important to remember you’re partners (not enemies) in your relationship.

So, you have to work as a team to find solutions. When partners get stuck on who’s right and wrong, life can feel like a battle that neither side can win.

Your strengths…

We all have them, and the couples who leverage their respective strengths have stronger relationships! In therapy, we’ll explore your individual strengths – what each of you brings to the table and how you can use those strengths to your shared advantage.

You may be thinking that your relationship is over – that there’s no point to working through it… or that it’ll be too hard.

But something has brought you this far, so you’re clearly willing to reflect on what’s important to you and your partner.

I welcome and encourage work with all different types of couples. No matter your background, sexual orientation, relationship preference, kink, or gender expression, I am a sex-affirmative therapist and happy to work with you.

Let’s work through the challenges and get back to the good times!
